The Mortgage Consultant is responsible for attaining all department goals by consulting consumers through the loan application, follow-up, interest rate lock, and through the loan closing process. Other responsibilities include communicating with Realtors, Mortgage Operations team, and Customer Experience team.

What You'll Be Doing

Follow Up & Conversion of Loan Applications

  • Manage an active pipeline of loan applications to produce maximum loan closings per month. Using sales skills to convert pipeline into locked loans while maintaining margin goal. This will include interaction with consumers to obtain the required loan documentation, and working closely with other team members, (i.e. Processors, Closers), to exceed our production goals while providing excellent customer service.

Consulting

  • Gathering pertinent loan application data, building consumer relationships, and applying technical knowledge of the mortgage industry to provide information to consumers and assist them in making sophisticated loan decisions.

Managing Relationships

  • Partnering & managing relationships with current & past Consumers, Realtors, Customer Experience team, Corporate Clients & Directors, & other outside parties to build referral relationships, increase conversion & provide creative solutions and resolve issues.

Training

  • Maintain a superior working knowledge of current programs, products, and guidelines. Complete ongoing continuing education to maintain required state licensing & other professional designations.

Qualifications And Preferred Skills

  • Specialized mortgage lending courses preferred.
  • Two years mortgage origination or loan operations experience preferred.
  • Customer service-oriented with exceptional sales skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast paced environment.
  • Highly motivated, goal oriented, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage loan products, guidelines, and regulations preferred.
  • Candidate must register as a Mortgage Loan Originator with the NMLS and be prepared to meet all requirements of the Federal S.A.F.E. Act as well as State S.A.F.E. regulations. This includes fingerprinting, background checks, restricted parties lists, credit check and the ability to demonstrate personal financial responsibility, as well as pre-licensing education and testing.
