Reporting into the Pacific Workplace Infrastructure Business Unit Manager - Medical, the new Workplace Infrastructure Business Development Manager (“WPI BDM”) will be remotely based in Sydney, NSW, and enjoy flexibility.The WPI BDI will be accountable for a portfolio including Surgical Lights and Pendants and play a crucial role in achieving revenue targets, driving growth, expanding company presence, managing key customers and industry relationships within WPI sector. Key responsibilities include:


  • Support in develop and implement market relevant and competitive strategic business plans with the Business Unit Manager to achieve growth and revenue objectives;
  • Develop and execute a tactical plan to ensure effective coverage and optimise sales results;
  • Represent Draeger and actively manage at all hierarchical levels in assigned key accounts, opportunities, industry stakeholders, and greenfield and brownfield redevelopments;
  • Oversee management and growth for key accounts’ profitability and revenue;
  • Build and nurture strong customer and industry stakeholder relationships through planned contact with buying influences in key accounts;
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities;
  • Apply innovative selling techniques to identify and meet customer needs through tailored solutions;
  • Deliver optimal and timely offers, quotes, and strategic discounts that present value to customers;
  • Actively present, demonstrate, and trial products as part of the overall selling process;
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance metrics to drive continuous improvement;
  • Present sales tracking reports for senior management;
  • Keep well-informed of and apply a high level of product knowledge;
  • Collaborative effectively with all internal (team, cross-functional) and external stakeholders;
  • Apply a compliance focused mindset across all operations, and;
  • Always ensure a safety-first approach.


The ideal candidate will be equipped with the following qualifications, skills, and experience:


  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field;
  • 3+ years’ experience selling capital medical equipment such as Surgical Lights and Pendants;
  • Knowledge of hospital / healthcare group purchasing practices and current / future trends in the medical device field;
  • Strong track record in developing key relationships in accounts in consultancy capacity, independent of the sales process;
  • Well versed with planning and prioritising sales and territory management activities;
  • Understanding of commercial business practices, including terms and conditions;
  • Competency in financial calculations for pricing, quoting, and discounting;
  • Ability to assess and evaluate educational needs, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate outcomes, to achieve learning objectives;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools;
  • Adaptability and readiness to handle multiple, changing priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn;
  • Exemplary understanding of compliance rules, with a proactive mindset and the ability to act as a role model in upholding and promoting compliance standards, and;
  • Excellent selling / proposing, presentation, negotiation, influencing, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
