Description/Job Summary
Lindahl Reed is seeking to hire Advisory Consultants that possess strong knowledge and expertise in their designated field or discipline, to include the areas of energy, environment, or national security. These individuals provide insight and advice concerning strategic direction and applicability of up-to-date policies, regulations and industry standard solutions. They provide guidance and direction for implementing and managing client mission delivery and operations execution. They may be responsible for providing high level vision to program/project management or senior client leadership to influence objectives of complex efforts. Advisory Consultants may lead or support assessments of specified organization’s challenges, using specialized skills and knowledge. They may also consult on strategy and planning initiatives, vision and mission, work plans, staffing, stakeholder engagement, communications products, financials and risks. They may support and mentor staff as needed and appropriate, and may provide advice, guidance and/or recommend solutions to help meet a client’s needs and desired functionality. Advisory Consultants also may support the development and implementation of operational systems, processes, and policies.
Position Responsibilities May Include:
Strategic Advisory & Client Engagement:
- Provide expert advice to federal agencies on energy, environmental, and national security initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve agency programs and operations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, fostering strong relationships with government clients.
Project & Program Management:
- Lead and manage complex projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with client goals.
- Develop project plans, track progress, and manage risks.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Policy & Regulatory Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth research on energy, environmental, and security policies and regulations.
- Evaluate the impact of federal and state regulations on client programs.
- Prepare policy briefs, white papers, and reports.
Technical & Data Analysis:
- Analyze energy systems, environmental programs, or security measures to provide actionable insights.
- Use quantitative and qualitative methodologies to assess program effectiveness.
- Develop models, dashboards, and reports for data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in either public policy, Environmental Science, Engineering, National Security, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in program management, policy analysis, strategic advisory, technical analysis or a combination thereof within energy, environmental, or national security sectors, preferably as a federal staff member.
- Strong understanding of federal agencies such as DOE, DOD, DHS, or NRC.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in federal procurement, budget analysis, and/or regulatory compliance preferred.
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (if required).
Preferred Qualifications (but not required):
- Experience serving as a senior level federal employee supporting federal agencies such as DOE, DOD, DHS, or NRC.
- Experience with emerging technologies, energy resilience, quality management, environmental health & safety, cybersecurity, or critical infrastructure.
- Familiarity with federal funding mechanisms, grants, and cooperative agreements.
- Active security clearance (if applicable).
