In this internship, the intern will conduct a survey on the state of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Industry and write a ‘State of Industry” report for the DOE BioEnergy Technology Office (BETO). To provide a quality experience for the intern, resources will be provided and time will be taken to ensure a basic understand of the relevant topics and concepts need to support this project. For this, the intern will be expected to do a substantial amount of reading and attend regular project meetings.
The intern will ask and answer several questions in this internship, including:
We envision that the intern will complete “deep dive” research on an existing SAF facility. This will require extensive internet research and these searches will include determining where the facility is located, capacity, permitting, costs, feedstock, etc. If a business student is selected to support the project, the deep-dive research would focus on feasibility economics of an existing facility.
Following the completion of this research and based on the students learning the student will develop a model biorefinery. The student intern will gain an in depth understanding of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel industry and its potential for success.
This internship can be conducted fully remotely from within US borders.
