Job description

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Business Development/Capture Specialist to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer.

The Business Development/Capture Specialist is responsible for leading Maveris’s business development and capture strategies and efforts for high-priority opportunities, with an emphasis on those within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role works closely with the business development, proposal, and technical teams to develop competitive, compliant, and compelling proposals that align with Maveris’s core capabilities in cybersecurity, IT, and innovation. The role is instrumental in translating growth opportunities into successful bids, ensuring that Maveris’s capture strategy is positioned for long-term success.  

Duties
  • Lead the pursuit process from opportunity identification through proposal submission, overseeing win strategy development, competitive analysis, pricing strategy, and client engagement.
  • Lead capture efforts and provide hands-on proposal support for high-value opportunities, working closely with proposal, technical, and service delivery teams to develop competitive and compliant solutions.
  • Proactively build and nurture relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within Federal Government agencies to position our company as a trusted cyber security partner.
  • Manage and grow a robust pipeline of opportunities, ensuring alignment with company goals and tracking progress through each capture stage.
  • Qualify and prioritize opportunities, providing input on go/no-go decisions and ensuring a robust pipeline of potential wins.
  • Conduct in-depth client and competitor analysis to inform capture strategies, differentiating Maveris from competitors and addressing client pain points.
  • Develop and maintain capture plans, schedules, and key milestones, ensuring timely execution of capture activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, industry partners, and government officials, to enhance Maveris’s reputation and visibility.
  • Represent Maveris at industry events, conferences, and client meetings, serving as an ambassador for the company’s mission and capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in capture management/business development, with a strong focus on federal government contracting at VA
  • Demonstrated success in developing and winning large government contracts in cybersecurity, IT, or related fields
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and translate them into proposal strategies
  • In-depth understanding of the federal procurement process, including acquisition strategies and contract vehicles
  • Strong strategic thinking, competitive analysis, and client engagement skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging clients, partners, and internal teams
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to operate independently
  • Tenacious, results-oriented, and committed to driving growth
  • Innovative, adaptable, and able to quickly pivot based on market demands and opportunities
