We’re looking for a Director of Engineering who will help us lead and expand the engineering organization at ServiceTitan. We need thoughtful, proactive leaders who support their teams, encourage growth, and drive accountability through results. We also desire those who can balance rapid iteration and development with high product quality expectations and who are innovative and comfortable with ambiguity.

Play a pivotal role as our Data Platform Leader! As a Director you will drive all data engineering initiatives building our next-gen data platform, which supports all major feature developments in the rapidly growing startup. You will be leading a team of data engineers and architects, collaborating closely with senior leaders in engineering, product and business stakeholders to design and build data pipelines, publish data products, and lead research and evaluation of new technical solutions. What you'll do: 

  • Collaborate with business users, product managers, data analysts/scientists and software engineers to build high quality, performant solutions that ensure stakeholder groups have access to the data they need

  • Architect solution design for data ingestion and data delivery, understanding a broad range of design approaches, focusing on scalability, reusability and maintenance, and optimizing data processing pipelines with different goals including latency, cost, and throughput.

  • Improve existing data pipelines in terms of scalability and efficiency.

  • Define data management practices including data modeling, ETL practices, aggregation patterns, and data warehousing principles.

  • Drive project execution throughout the entire lifecycle (design, build, test and deploy) while mitigating risks. 

  • Manage a variety of projects, be able to wear many hats, ultimately hold people accountable, including remote engineering team members.

  • Lead, motivate and grow a diverse, multi-location, multi-skilled infrastructure, tools and cloud operations team of software engineers chartered to deliver ServiceTitan’s next generation data platform.

  • Partner closely with leadership to manage growth and career paths for engineers.

  • Partner closely with peer engineering executives to ensure we operate as a single team and represent ServiceTitan in the technology community as well as interacting with customers assuring them of our continued commitment to their success.

What you'll need: 

  • 6+ years experience managing teams

  • Experience building data streaming solutions (e.g. Kafka,  Azure Event/IOT Hub, SNS/SQS, Kinesis)

  • Experience building data pipelines (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Kafka Connect, Flink, Pinot, Clickhouse, Spark, Pig)

  • Experience with Cloud Store and Database  (e.g. Azure Data Lake, S3, Azure Synapse, Snowflake, Redshift, Vertica)

  • Experience with Infrastructure automation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with modern data workflow (e.g. Airflow, dbt)

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and Restful APIs

  • Strong communication and technical writing skills

  • Experience with Source Control, Unit testing, Debugging, Monitoring and Alerting and other tools that are typically used by developers on Microsoft technology stack.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly

  • B.S., M.S. or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or a related technical field

ServiceTitan is committed to fair and equitable compensation for all of our employees. We thoughtfully consider a wide range of factors when determining individual compensation. The expected salary range for this role for candidates residing in the United States is between $244,000 USD - $326,400 USD. Compensation for candidates residing outside the United States will vary by location and the specific salary range will be discussed during the hiring process. Actual compensation for an individual may vary depending on skills, performance over time, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition to the base salary, the total compensation package also includes an annual bonus, equity and a holistic suite of benefits.
