Position Summary:
Blue Sky Utility is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team on a contract basis. This role will support corporate accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with international accounting standards, and assisting with overall financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate accounting, preferably within the renewable energy or related industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS) and company policies.
  • Prepare and file tax and regulatory reports as required.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Support the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide financial insights and support business decisions by collaborating with other departments.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
  • Oversee and manage company credit card programs, ensuring expense tracking, reconciliation, and compliance with company policies.
  • Review and approve employee expense reports for accuracy and adherence to internal guidelines.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

5+ years of accounting experience, with direct experience in U.S. corporate accounting required.

Strong knowledge of IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and corporate accounting practices.

Experience in lease accounting is a plus.

Proficiency in Yardi or similar accounting software is preferred.

High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Experience in the renewable energy industry is a plus.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently as a contractor while collaborating with a remote team.
