Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of our Software Security and Identity Management systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in security protocols, identity management, and distributed systems, combined with strong leadership skills to drive our security initiatives forward.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on software security and identity management.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, code quality, and continuous learning, ensuring best practices are consistently applied across the team.
  • Set clear performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and drive professional development initiatives for team members.

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Develop and maintain a robust technical roadmap for software security and identity management, ensuring timely execution and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Architecture, and other Engineering teams to define requirements, refine designs, and validate assumptions.

System Design & Optimization:

  • Oversee the analysis, design, and implementation of next-generation security protocols and identity management solutions to enhance system security, performance, and scalability.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement advanced security techniques to maximize data protection, reliability, and efficiency while minimizing overhead.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements, refine designs, and validate assumptions related to security and identity management.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address security incidents and implement effective solutions.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on incident analyses and emerging security challenges.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, integrating advanced security technologies and practices to maintain a competitive edge.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly desirable.
  • 8+ years in software engineering or security engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing software security and identity management systems at scale.
  • Extensive knowledge of security protocols, encryption, and threat mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, GDPR, and HIPAA.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of secure coding practices and the software development lifecycle, including DevSecOps.
  • Experience with cloud-based security solutions and application security frameworks.
  • Familiarity with security testing methodologies, vulnerability management, and penetration testing.
  • Experience with application security tools such as SAST, DAST, and vulnerability scanners.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive security initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive, hands-on leadership approach.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

 

This position requires participation in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as needed.

Interview Process: After submitting your application, one of our recruiters will review your resume. If your application passes this stage, you will be invited to a 30-minute interview during which a member of our team will ask some basic questions. If you clear the interview, you will enter the main process, which can consist of up to four interviews in total:

 

  • Coding assessment: Often in a language of your choice.
  • Systems design: Translate high-level requirements into a scalable, fault-tolerant service (depending on role).
  • Real-time problem-solving: Demonstrate practical skills in a live problem-solving session.
  • Meet and greet with the wider team.
  • Our goal is to finish the main process in 2-3 weeks at most.
