Project Overview

Our client specializes in infrastructure management across finance, retail, healthcare, and other industries, helping organizations optimize and modernize their infrastructure environments. They are currently undertaking a critical user migration project, moving customer identities from an existing authentication system into AWS Cognito for a more scalable, secure, and centralized authentication framework.

This migration must be automated, seamless, and secure, ensuring that users experience zero downtime while maintaining strict security and compliance standards. The project requires expertise in AWS Cognito, AWS Lambda (Node.js), and AWS DynamoDB to build a robust migration process that efficiently maps, transforms, and transfers user credentials while integrating with the existing AWS-based application.

Given the sensitive nature of identity data and the industries served (finance, healthcare, retail, etc.), security and compliance best practices are paramount. Experience with prior user migrations from legacy systems into AWS-based authentication solutions will be a major advantage

  • Design and implement an automated user migration of customer identities into an existing application using AWS Cognito for authentication.
  • Develop and optimize serverless functions using AWS Lambda (Node.js preferred) to facilitate seamless identity migration.
  • Work with AWS DynamoDB to store and manage user data efficiently during the migration process.
  • Ensure secure and scalable authentication solutions, integrating AWS IAM where necessary.
  • Utilize AWS CDK or Serverless Frameworks to streamline deployment and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Perform data mapping and transformation to align user identities with AWS Cognito structures.
  • Conduct QA and validation testing to ensure all user accounts are migrated accurately.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align migration strategies with application needs.
  • Document processes, best practices, and troubleshooting steps for future scalability.
