Job description

Full-time Mental Health Counselor in California (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC)

We are currently seeking dedicated Telehealth Mental Health Therapists (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) for our outpatient practice in California. This role focuses on conducting intake assessments and developing intake treatment plans for clients seeking behavioral health and substance abuse services.

Job Type: Full Time

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000 per year + benefits

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough initial assessments with clients via telehealth to gather clinical, medical, and psychosocial histories
  • Screen clients for substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and readiness for treatment
  • Administer evidence-based assessment tools to determine appropriate care levels
  • Develop personalized intake treatment plans based on client needs, goals, and clinical findings
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including medical providers and case managers, to ensure a holistic approach to care
  • Regularly update treatment plans to align with client progress and treatment outcomes
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and HIPAA-compliant records of assessments and treatment plans
  • Ensure documentation meets State of New Mexico regulatory standards and clinic policies
  • Establish rapport and provide empathetic, non-judgmental support during client interactions
  • Educate clients on available services, including Methadone, Suboxone, and Naltrexone treatments, housing programs, and CCSS

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
  • Current licensure as an LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or equivalent in California (or eligibility for licensure in CA)
  • 1+ years of clinical experience in substance use disorder treatment or behavioral health
  • Familiarity with Methadone, Suboxone, and Naltrexone treatment protocols is preferred
  • Proficiency with telehealth platforms and electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Empathy, active listening, and a client-centered approach to care
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining strong organizational skills
