Your Role

You will be a key member of our Compliance team and play a central leadership role. As the Compliance Director you will be responsible for ensuring Honest’s compliance with applicable federal government healthcare programs, state and federal regulatory and sub-regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations for the organization, and its partners. You will be a primary compliance contact and responsible for ensuring overall compliance and coordination of enterprise-wide monitoring programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, as well as company compliance standards.

You will work cross-functionally with business owners, clinicians, Legal, IT, and other partners as necessary in a matrixed environment, while also supporting external partnerships. In general, the position will be responsible for: (i) working with business partners to ensure compliance requirements are understood and appropriately implemented, (ii) working with business partners to develop, implement, track, and validate monitoring, controls and, when necessary, implementing corrective action plans (CAPs), (iii) coordinating and facilitating cross-functional compliance dashboards and committees, (iv) compliance monitoring and auditing activities, and (v) providing compliance support for Fraud, Waste and Abuse (FWA) and compliance investigations.

 

Primary Functions of the Director, Compliance Include:
  • Serve as a partner to internal and external stakeholders regarding the development, implementation, and oversight of compliance related requirements.
  • Work closely with designated business areas, Legal, and other matrix partners to identify changing laws and regulations, contractual obligations, provides compliance guidance, and supports designated business areas’ implementation in alignment with compliance requirements.
  • Direct internal compliance initiatives and oversee regulatory audits and examinations, ensuring adherence to applicable laws, policies, and industry standards..
  • Support designated business areas’ development of key performance indicators that demonstrate adherence to compliance requirements.
  • Develop and provide compliance reports to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Execute compliance reviews for designated business areas.
  • Oversee the development and execution of monitoring activities and control implementations, ensuring that all regulatory standards are understood. Establish processes to address any gaps.
  • Support the prompt and thorough investigation of detected or reported compliance or privacy related issues, partnering with Legal and HR as appropriate.
  • Foster and support the structures that reinforce a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
  • Develop strategic compliance solutions to meet business needs by staying informed of current legislation and enforcement issues affecting the healthcare industry, as well as compliance best practices.
  • Facilitate compliance training and education to employees, management, and stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of compliance requirements.
  • Partner and collaborate with business leaders to proficiently represent them both internally and externally to Regulators and Auditors as appropriate for all audit, regulatory, and compliance issues.
  • Create and champion quality process enhancement initiatives to maintain an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Manage the governance of company policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Staff, direct, organize, and control the day-to-day compliance operations, as assigned.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a similar field required
  • 8-10+ years of experience with government health care programs is required
  • Must have demonstrated health care compliance expertise; ACO compliance experience a plus
  • Must be able to evaluate and analyze regulations, interpret significance, and recommend policies to comply and apply and ensure compliance to applicable regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills to proactively identify issues and problem solve through complex compliance situations
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to work with a diverse group of people across the organization and externally
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • CPA or related audit certification experience preferred
  • Flexibility and ability to travel, as needed
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

 

The base pay range for this role is $145,000.00 - $170,600. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Honest. Eligible roles also qualify for short-term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
