Engineering Manager, Detection Engineering

In Netflix’s unique culture, our security team aims to strike the right balance between supporting business innovation and pragmatic risk right-sizing. The Detection Engineering team is responsible for analyzing high-risk attack paths that could have substantial impact on Netflix, and creates focused detections to reduce risk to the business. This is a hybrid team of Security Software Engineers and Security Engineers focused on building tools, platforms, processes and techniques for the detection and investigation of a broad range of threats. We operate across a broad scope and work with a wide set of key partnerships, helping to enable the business to move quickly while implementing strong detective controls around key risk areas.

We are looking for an experienced and pragmatic leader for this team to enable our mission and cultivate strong partnerships with business and engineering stakeholders. You will drive the strategy for detection engineering investments, and contribute to the broader Detection & Response organizations larger strategy for reactive security and response readiness.

• You have direct experience managing a hybrid team of in-person and remote engineers.

• You are well versed in the latest adversary techniques, attack lifecycle, and modern detection as code techniques.

• You can drive success with minimal process and a heavy emphasis on individual responsibility.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $190,000 - $920,000.
