We’re looking for a SEO Writer & Strategist to plan and execute the development of high-quality, search-optimised content that educates, engages, and converts pet owners. This role blends SEO expertise, content creation, and strategic planning, ensuring that our content ranks highly in search engines while delivering real value to our audience.

Who Will You Report Into?
Hey there, my name is Deidre, and I head up the SEO team at PetLab Co. We’re dedicated to creating on-site and off-site content that not only ranks well but also drives engagement and builds trust with pet owners.
As our new SEO Writer & Strategist, you’ll be responsible for researching, writing, and optimising content that helps pet owners find the best solutions for their pets’ health. You’ll also collaborate with designers, developers, and marketing teams to ensure our SEO content and copy aligns with our broader brand growth strategy.
We’ve already built a strong foundation, but we need someone with a sharp eye for SEO trends, an editorial knack for writing and editing, and a data-driven mindset to take everything to the next level.
What’s the Ideal Candidate’s Background?
We’re looking for an informed, analytical, and detail-oriented writer and editor with a strong background in SEO content strategy. You should have experience conducting keyword research, writing and editing high-quality long-form content, and optimising existing assets for search performance.
You should also be up-to-speed on the rapid changes and technologies that are impacting the search landscape with the continuous role out of new SERP features, the rise of generative AI, and a broadening of how and where people find information online.

How Will Your Time Be Spent?
Your role will involve a mix of content creation, SEO strategy, and performance analysis.
Here’s how you’ll typically allocate your time:
📝 40% Content Writing & Editing – Researching, writing, editing, and optimising educational blog posts, product descriptions, landing pages, and other off-site SEO initiatives.
📊 30% SEO Strategy & Brainstorming – Conducting keyword research, content planning and mapping, competitive research and analysis, and ensuring alignment with SEO best practices.
📈 20% Performance Analysis – Monitoring content performance, analysing key SEO metrics, and iterating based on data.
🤝 10% Collaboration – Working with designers, developers, marketing teams and external consultants or agencies to create a seamless experience.
