Responsibilities: 

  • Focus on software development projects aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Research Software Support Specialists.
  • The primary type of work involves the development of tailored software solutions designed to streamline data pulls and automate repetitive data integrity tasks, thereby increasing efficiency and reducing manual effort.
  • These solutions will interact with proprietary software systems through APIs, ensuring seamless integration and data exchange.
  • Significant aspect of the role will also involve acting as a consultant to Support Specialists, providing expertise in software engineering technologies and best practices.
  • During peak ticket seasons, the role may require assisting with software support tickets to ensure timely resolution of user issues.
  • The overarching goal is to empower the Support Specialists with robust, user-friendly tools that simplify their workflows, improve data accuracy, and enable them to focus on more strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and implement deployment plans for new software tools including writing technical documentation, creating training videos, and presenting live training demos.
  • Perform UAT and smoke testing prior to software deployment
  • Learn proprietary research processes and systems to provide software solutions.
  • Perform Tier 2 level investigation and troubleshooting of proprietary research software.
  • Record troubleshooting steps and resolution details in Atlassian Jira Service Desk.
  • Manage and update knowledgebase articles.

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Computer Science, or associate’s degree in similar fields
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • SQL scripting knowledge preferred
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Bilingual Preferred English / Spanish
  • Proficiency in using the Visual .NET framework for developing applications.
  • Experience with Visual Studio as an integrated development environment (IDE).
  • Strong knowledge of C# programming language.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in C#.
  • Experience in querying and interacting with APIs, including Azure OpenAI APIs.
  • Understanding of RESTful API principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using tools like Postman for testing and debugging APIs.
  • Experience with LINQPad for querying and interacting with data sources. (Preferred not required)
  • Proficiency in working with JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) for data interchange.
  • Ability to parse, manipulate, and generate JSON data.
  • Knowledge of OData (Open Data Protocol) for querying and updating data.
  • Experience in implementing and consuming OData services.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for managing development workflows.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control, and project management using Azure DevOps.
  • Ability to document code and technical processes clearly.
  • Relevant experience in software development and the specific technologies mentioned.
  • Understanding of AI and Machine Learning concepts and algorithms.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
  • Ability to develop and implement machine learning models, including using Azure OpenAI APIs.
  • Knowledge of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
  • Remote - candidate can be considered as remote if in the US/PR and living more than 50 miles from above indicated GBC locations.
