About The Position:
Reporting to a Program Manager, a College Access Coach works remotely to provide virtual support by text, phone/video, and email to support a cohort of current high school seniors as they apply to college and make the important decision about where to attend school. Our near-peer College Access Coach builds relationships with their students and provides mentorship, encouragement, targeted resources, and help students stay on track with the many steps in the college application process. A College Access Coach should be comfortable creating meaningful relationships with high school students all via virtual means. Full training and supervision provided.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Responsible for creatively developing relationships with a caseload of students to increase program engagement and support through the college process
- Sending weekly individualized text messages using a website called Mainstay to students (this site can only be accessed through a laptop not by cell phone)
- Work to meet organizational goals around student engagement and milestone assessments
- Sending bi-weekly emails to students through LGR’s assigned email address
- Conducting mandatory monthly check-in calls with 30 students via phone/video
- Utilizing LGR’s curriculum and resources to assist students with their applications for college and financial aid, college decision-making, and college enrollment
- Tracking communication with students using our Salesforce data platform
- Attending a weekly supervision meeting (by phone/video) with a Program Manager to discuss progress towards goals; flagging and notifying Program Manager of urgent/sensitive situations
- Complete virtual learning modules in a timely manner, which cover topics such as culturally responsive mentorship, active listening, and how to facilitate student goal setting
- Support with student recruitment efforts in the Spring/Summer by making phone calls to students
- May be asked to support as a zoom moderator for college workshop support
Qualifications and Experience:
Let’s Get Ready seeks individuals committed to supporting high school students to achieve their college goals. Candidates should:
- Be extremely comfortable with speaking to students virtually via phone calls, email, text messaging, live video streams, etc.
- Have exceptional relationship-building ability across personality and identity differences and be effective in communicating with warmth and empathy
- Ability to maintain detailed records and schedules to ensure all tasks and projects are tracked and completed in an orderly and on time fashion
- Be comfortable working independently and dependently in a virtual environment
- Candidates must be rising college sophomores, juniors, or seniors
Preferred Skills & Abilities:
- Former Let’s Get Ready alumni and coaches are encouraged to apply
- 1st generation college student encouraged to apply
- Dedicated and passionate about Let’s Get Ready’s mission and helping students reach their goals
- Interest in learning about college access and success strategies; how to effectively support various student subpopulations and deepening self awareness
- Lived experience or experience working with students from under-resourced communities
- In good academic standing and plan to be enrolled in undergraduate college/university in the school year 2025-2026
- Previous experience serving as a mentor to first-generation college students
- Schedule flexibility to ensure students are being served via regular communication
- Excellent self-motivation skills
- Experience with data entry a plus
Training:
- College Access Coaches are responsible for attending required training, including but not limited to: virtual kickoff orientation training and monthly virtual team meetings with other coaches
- Mandatory training will take place virtually over Zoom during the third week of August
More about the Position and Location:
This is a part- time remote position that requires 6 to 7 hours per week. The schedule varies, but coaches are expected to commit to the position for a full school year from August 2025 through July 2026. Flexibility will be offered for school breaks/personal breaks as appropriate to meet program objectives and in consultation with your manager.
Students planning to study abroad for the school year will not be considered.*
Compensation:
The hourly wage is at least $12.00/hour or your work location’s minimum wage - whichever is higher.
This position runs from 8/13/2025 -7/6/2026
