Job description

This is a remote, home-based internship. Full time students from all US geographies will be considered. Our 2025 Summer internship program is an 8-week Paid Internship that runs from June 2nd – July 25th, at 37.5 hours weekly. The program will join interns across the country who are supporting different department focuses on American Cancer Society and ACS's Cancer Action Network. 80% of the time will be in working within the given department, with the Intern's manager, their mentor, and the team. The other 20% will be with a cohort of other interns around American Cancer Society and ACS CAN.

The intern’s role will be to shadow the Internal Communications team to gain insight into the process of developing and managing an intranet and extranet, essential communications platforms for the American Cancer Society’s more than 3,500 team members and volunteer leaders 

The Internal Communications team intern will get hands-on experience creating pages and content leading up to the launch of the new American Cancer Society modern intranet and extranet, designed to drive success across the organization’s remote-forward workforce. The new platform is expected to launch this summer, so the intern will be part of the launch team for this exciting new project, a milestone for a Communications team. 

 

Major responsibilities will include: 

  • Converting a list of digital assets into pages designed appropriately for a modern intranet and extranet web-based platform, targeted to employees and leadership volunteers. 

  • Ensuring content is translated appropriately from one type of asset to another, checking for style, accuracy, grammar, and design consistency.

  • Working quickly to get up to speed with the specific web design platform, collaborating with colleagues to learn the tool. 

  • Collaborating with internal communications colleagues and others across ACS on page design as needed to ensure accuracy of project.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be available for entirety of 8-week program: June 2 – July 25, 2025, at 37.5 hours per week.
  • Full-time student, if you are an undergraduate student, you have completed your freshman year of college.
  • Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale);
  • Plan to continue your education in the following term/semester;
  • Upload a resume upon application submission.
  • Note: an internship assignment may coincide with your last term/trimester as a full-time student, but the internship must be disengaged upon graduation.

The rate for this position is $15/hour. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
