How will you make an impact?
The Payer Relations Director - West (PRD) is a remote position responsible for managing coverage, coding, and reimbursement processes across Pharmacy Benefit Managers, National & Regional Health Plans, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid. The PRD will drive favorable payer coverage, ensure fair reimbursement, and remove barriers to access. Additionally, this role engages KOL healthcare providers, state societies, and advocacy groups to influence payer policies. The PRD will collaborate with Sales, Customer Relations, Reimbursement Liaison teams, Specialty Pharmacy, and Medical Affairs to support payer and provider business goals.
What will you do?
- Develop and implement payer strategies to secure and maintain coverage for Glaukos marketed products.
- Support KOL healthcare providers with reimbursement needs in collaboration with Sales Leadership.
- Build and sustain corporate relationships to drive growth for current and future technologies.
- Engage key stakeholders, including:
- National & Regional Health Plans
- Medicaid (Fee-for-Service, Managed Care Organizations)
- State Government Health Staffers
- Specialty Pharmacy & Pharmacy Benefit Managers
- Medical Groups, Advocacy, and Patient Organizations
- Conduct outreach and networking with key provider, patient, and healthcare system advocates.
How will you get here?
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of industry experience, with 10+ years in payer relations for medical devices and procedural pharmaceuticals.
- Expertise in buy-and-bill systems and reimbursement policies for PBMs, health plans, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid.
- Experience in biologic product launches and ophthalmology preferred.
- Knowledge of T codes, J codes, billing, appeals processes, and reimbursement policies.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations (AdvaMed, MDMA, BIO, PHARMA guidelines).
- 50%+ travel required (3-4 nights per week).
- Excellent communication, project management, and analytical skills.
