The General Clerk III - Finance uses some subject-matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence. Selects from alternative methods and refers problems not solvable by adapting or interpreting substantive guides, manuals, or procedures. Typical duties include:
assisting in a variety of administrative matters
maintaining a wide variety of financial or other records (stored both manually and electronically)
verifying statistical reports for accuracy and completeness
compiling information
examining, verifying, and correcting various accounting documents to ensure completeness and accuracy of data in accordance with accounting procedures.
reviewing invoices and statements verifying information, ensuring sufficient funds have been obligated, and if questionable, resolving with the submitting unit determining accounts involved. The review will include coding transactions, and processing material through data processing for application in various systems.
analysis and reconciliation of computer printouts with operating unit reports (contacting units, researching causes of discrepancies, and taking action to ensure that accounts balance).
Specific tasks/duties are assigned under adequate supervision. Entry-level reconciliation and posting will be assigned under detailed guidance. In most instances, an employee in this position will rely on the supervisors' instructions. Completed work will be reviewed for accuracy and compliance with procedures
Minimum Requirements
Three (3) years relevant experience as a General Clerk or Accounting Clerk on a government contract.
Proficient in Microsoft applications, intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and organization skills to oversee multiple work assignments.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work site.
Good written and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma.
Good interpersonal skills with ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
Ability to work under pressure and meet aggressive deadlines.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constate use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication.
