As a Senior Payroll Representative, you will be responsible for compiling, verifying, maintaining, and distributing payroll related data, provides reports/spreadsheets related to payroll, systems support, and training to managers for the automated payroll process.

  • As a part of Banner Registry, you will receive a 10% Shift Differential in lieu of benefits.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for compiling, verifying, maintaining, and distributing payroll related data, provides reports/spreadsheets related to payroll, systems support, and training to managers for the automated payroll process. This position also will represent assigned region on special committees/projects. This position coordinates and processes specific legislated payroll responsibilities involving tax concerns, child support orders, tax levies and garnishments.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Manages automated systems utilized by managers/editors for submitting special check request, payroll adjustments, Time and Attendance system security and other payroll changes/adjustments needed. Identifies audits/query reports to ensure compliance and prevent errors related to payroll processing and works with team leads to implement these.

2. Ensures accurate tracking, payment and adjustments of employees placed on company approved leaves, including, but not limited to transition assistance, administrative leave, DML, PTO Donation, BL as well as payment to contracted employees IE: medical directors.

3. Acts as a backup to Systems Specialist for accurate tracking and timely reporting of federal and state taxes in compliance with IRS and state mandates. Calculate adjustments into multiple systems to correct taxable earnings errors, add or reduce wages, time accrual and employee deductions.

4. Assist employees and management in the proper use of the time and attendance system. Provides weekly, monthly and/or special requested Attendance system and report training to new Attendance system editors and current editors requiring additional assistance.

5. Enter correcting entries into multiple systems to fix incorrect employee pay checks and calculate and enter time records and deduction information to generate manual checks.

6. Act as backup for Info Analyst who processes and answers all garnishment, wage assignments and levies ensuring that all legal requirements are met as well as calculates employee exempt earnings and deduction amounts for input into the payroll system. Coordinates communication of withholding amount to employee, creditor, governmental agency or attorney. Maintains employee files and logs.

7. Ensures accurate placing, processing and tracking of accruals, deductions and adjustments of the PTO plan(s) in place. Develop and run queries, audit and monitor time accrual transactions. Make adjusting entries as necessary.

8. Properly tracks, adjusts and/or refunds deductions withheld from employee paychecks and makes adjusting entries as necessary.

9. Provide payroll services to a region covering multiple states in a variety of settings from hospitals, homecare and clinic facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Requires a Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent knowledge and/or experience in payroll or finance;

Working knowledge of state and federal law as applicable to garnishments, employment taxes, employee benefits and /or employment issues;

Demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication (written and oral) and customer service skills. Proven analytical and mathematical skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Strong computer skills and the ability to create complex spreadsheets and databases. Knowledgeable of office desktop software products.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred; Experience with Lawson and Kronos systems preferred; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
