Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Category Manager is responsible for sourcing and contracting of products, services and minor/capital equipment for Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS). The individual will work closely with departments to determine sourcing, specifications, performance and compliance issues.

Formulate and prepare the competitive bid process where appropriate, advise departments on specific requests and identify/facilitate expense reduction opportunities. Develop new and review existing or renewing contracts, negotiates contract terms to maximize facility spend value and protect business interests. Use analytic driven programs via GPO and 3rd party benchmarking resources to assist in tactical negotiations to drive maximum savings for the health organization.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Education qualifications must be from a school whose accreditation is recognized by Marshfield Clinic Health System.

Minimum Required: Demonstrated proficiency with customer service, the Microsoft Office Suite and with verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills. In addition to one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, logistics, materials management or related field and one year of progressive experience in purchasing, inventory management, shipping or distribution.
  • Associate degree in accounting, business, logistics, materials management or related field and three years of progressive experience in purchasing, inventory management, shipping or distribution.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and seven years of progressive experience in purchasing, inventory management, shipping or distribution.

Preferred/Optional: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, logistics, materials management or related field. Procurement experience in a healthcare setting. Contract negotiations and management experience in a healthcare setting.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: None

Preferred/Optional: Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP), or comparable certification highly desirable.
