Job description

Simulmedia, a trailblazer in revolutionizing advertising effectiveness across streaming, linear TV, video games, and tech platforms, visionary VP of Data Science to lead our global science teams in developing cutting-edge algorithms, technical infrastructure, and models that drive advertising effectiveness and scalable systems design. This pivotal role reports directly to the Chief Product and Technology Officer and is crucial in advancing our patented technology and enhancing our data-driven advertising solutions.

This position is located in Kyiv or Lviv, Ukraine. The core team is located in Lviv and primarily works remotely with occasional team meetings in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

Global Data Science Leadership:
      Lead and manage a global team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
      Ensure the data science and data engineering teams are aligned with the company's strategic goals and product roadmap.
      Collaborate with broader engineering leadership on strategic technical initiatives and infrastructure planning.

Research and Development:
      Drive research and development efforts in data science, machine learning, and AI to enhance advertising outcomes across various platforms.
      Oversee the development of scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that support data science models and algorithms in production.
      Guide architectural decisions that impact data processing capabilities and system performance.

Data Strategy and Innovation:
      Define and execute the data strategy, ensuring the effective use of data in driving advertising optimization and innovation.
      Explore and implement new data sources, methodologies, and technologies to advance the company's data capabilities.
      Influence technical direction for the organization's data platform and infrastructure evolution.

Collaboration and Communication:
      Work closely with other departments, including engineering, product management, and sales, to ensure the successful implementation and communication of data-driven solutions.
      Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and collaborations, showcasing our data science expertise and innovations.
      Drive alignment between data engineering initiatives and broader engineering efforts across the organization.

Qualifications:
      PhD or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Economics, Quantitative Social Sciences, Bio-Statistics, Statistics, or other technical fields with a strong focus on mathematical optimization.)
      Minimum of 10 years of experience in data science, with a strong background in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data analysis.
      Proven track record of leading cross-functional technical teams including data scientists, data, and analysts.
      Experience building and maintaining production data infrastructure and pipelines at scale.
      Strong understanding of modern data infrastructure, distributed systems, and engineering principles.
      Demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between data science research and production engineering systems.
      Experience in digital advertising technology or related fields is highly desirable.
      Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and lead teams across different locations.
