Job description

The Pricing Optimization Manager at USALCO will be responsible for leading and transforming the company's pricing strategy to drive profitability and competitiveness in the specialty chemicals industry. This individual will develop and execute both short-term and long-term pricing strategies that align with corporate objectives, leveraging data-driven insights and market intelligence. The Pricing Optimization Manager will collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Business Leaders to ensure pricing strategies are effectively implemented, optimized and sustained. This is a REMOTE position with some travel.

This is a hands-on role that requires a strong analytical mindset, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills to drive organizational change in pricing practices. The successful candidate will be a change agent, fostering collaboration across the organization while improving pricing processes, systems via automation, analytics, and execution.

Key goal for this role is to deploy a continuously improving pricing playbook, enhance pricing capabilities for improved value capture, eliminate profitability leakage, and, equally importantly, drive accountability and actions through regular reviews.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and Execute Pricing Strategies:
    • Establish and implement pricing strategies that align with USALCOs business objectives, considering competitive dynamics, cost structure, and market conditions.
    • Develop and deploy data-driven pricing models to optimize revenue and margin.
  • Enhance Pricing Processes and Automation:
    • Assess and improve existing pricing processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency and automation.
    • Implement pricing tools and systems to enhance decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
    • Work closely with Sales, Finance, and Business Leaders to execute pricing initiatives.
    • Support the sales team with pricing guidance, tools, and training.
  • Monitor Market Trends and Competitive Pricing:
    • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to refine pricing strategies.
    • Establish benchmarking processes to compare USALCOs pricing approach with industry peers across end markets and products.
  • Drive Pricing Execution and Performance Measurement:
    • Develop and track key pricing performance metrics.
    • Continuously assess pricing effectiveness and adjust strategies and tools as needed.
    • Manage and maintain the appropriate infrastructure required to effectively execute and monitor the pricing strategy, including:
      • Establish appropriate protocols and authorization rights throughout the organization
    • Work with the IT department, running the selection, implementation and operation of pricing-specific technology as appropriately.
    • Develop and document the internal USALCO processes for price setting, price implementation and ongoing execution
  • Lead Pricing Communication and Change Management:
    • Communicate pricing strategy updates across the organization.
    • Train and mentor sales and Business Leaders on pricing best practices.
  • Ability to travel is up to 15% as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in B2B pricing, finance, or strategy within manufacturing, specialty chemicals, or industrial distribution.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing pricing strategies, tools, and processes.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to develop data-driven pricing recommendations.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and influencing senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of pricing software (SFDC/CPQ) and ERP systems (Aptean ROSS) is a plus.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Leadership & Change Management: Ability to lead pricing transformation efforts and drive adoption across the organization.
  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong quantitative skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Effective in conveying complex pricing concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Technology & Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in Excel, data visualization tools such as PowerBI, and pricing software solutions (CPQ).
  • Results-Oriented: Strong track record of driving pricing improvements that enhance profitability.
