Senior Database Administrator

Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and secure our database systems in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This is a part-time, short-term role (10 to 20 hours per week for 3 weeks), ideal for an experienced DBA seeking a flexible opportunity. You will play a key role in ensuring data integrity, performance optimization, and security while collaborating with development teams to enhance system efficiency. Responsibilities:

Design, install, configure, and maintain database systems (SQL, NoSQL, etc.).

Monitor performance, apply patches, and implement upgrades as needed.

Ensure data security, compliance, and industry best practices.

Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and storage management.

Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies.

Collaborate with developers to improve application performance and database interactions.

Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide internal support.

Automate routine database tasks to enhance efficiency.

Document processes, procedures, and best practices for database management.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.

Expertise in SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server) and NoSQL solutions (MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.).

Strong experience in performance tuning, optimization, and indexing.

Familiarity with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).

Understanding of data security, encryption, and compliance standards.

Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation.

Hands-on experience with database monitoring and management tools.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Intermediate English level (spoken and written).
