Financial Management Consultant (Multiple Levels) —Remote
BizFirst is assisting our client with recruiting for a Financial Management Consultant to support federal clients in achieving financial management excellence, audit readiness, and compliance with federal accounting standards. This role will be responsible for analyzing financial systems, improving internal controls, and ensuring adherence to Financial Management Regulation (FMR), Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) guidance, and other federal policies. The consultant will also provide expertise in Internal Use Software (IUS) and financial reporting processes.
Our client is a boutique consulting firm that employs consultants and professionals with unique skill sets to support the federal government with strategic execution, financial process enablement, IT systems, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software implementation.
What will you do
Provide financial management consulting to federal agencies, conducting financial analysis, internal control assessments, and audit readiness support to enhance financial operations and ensure compliance with federal accounting standards. Assist in developing and implementing Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) based on Notice of Findings and Recommendations (NFRs) and support Internal Use Software (IUS) reporting and lifecycle management, ensuring adherence to DoD and FMR policies. Analyze financial data, perform reconciliations using systems such as Defense Agencies Initiative (DAI) and Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS), and develop financial process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process narratives. Facilitate stakeholder collaboration by preparing reports, presentations, and executive briefings, guiding agencies through audit remediation strategies and enterprise risk management initiatives. Contribute to the enhancement of financial reporting, budget execution, and internal controls while ensuring alignment with FASAB, GAO, and FIAR guidance.
Qualifications, by Level
Financial Management Consultant I (FMC-I)
- Clearance: Active Interim Secret or higher.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years in financial management, accounting, or audit readiness.
- Skills:
- Basic understanding of DoD FMR, GAO guidelines, and financial process documentation.
- Support Internal Use Software (IUS) reporting and lifecycle management, ensuring compliance with DoD and FMR policies.
Financial Management Consultant II (FMC-II)
- Clearance: Active Secret or higher.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in financial management, accounting, or audit remediation.
- Skills:
- Experience with CAP development, financial reconciliations, and federal reporting requirements.
- Support Internal Use Software (IUS) reporting and lifecycle management, ensuring compliance with DoD and FMR policies.
Financial Management Consultant III (FMC-III)
- Clearance: Active Secret or higher.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years in financial management, audit readiness, or federal accounting standards implementation.
- Skills:
- Strong experience in financial systems (DAI, DPAS), risk assessment, and GAO audit compliance.
- Support Internal Use Software (IUS) reporting and lifecycle management, ensuring compliance with DoD and FMR policies.
Financial Management Consultant IV (FMC-IV)
- Clearance: Active Secret or higher.
- Education: Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 12+ years of experience in federal financial management, financial process optimization, and enterprise risk management.
- Skills:
- Expert in FMR policy interpretation, federal accounting standards (FASAB), and implementing high-level audit remediation strategies.
- Support Internal Use Software (IUS) reporting and lifecycle management, ensuring compliance with DoD and FMR policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) (OUSD(C)).
- Knowledge of Financial Management Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) Guidance.
- Familiarity with government financial reporting systems and ERP solutions.
- Strong background in federal audit remediation and financial statement preparation.
