Not all heroes wear capes — but plenty of them use toilet paper

Want to challenge yourself at a high-growth startup AND make a difference in the world? Come join the revolootion!

Funny name, serious business

We make eco-friendly products and donate 50% of our profits to provide clean water and help build toilets for the billions of people who lack proper access. So far, we’ve contributed over $18 million AUD (roughly $12.5 million USD) to fund sanitation projects around the globe. Basically, we’re really good at doing good.

With hubs in Australia, the Philippines, China, the US and UK our amazing team of 200+ work to make the biggest possible impact for people and the planet. Over the next couple of years, we’re hoping to increase our annual donation tenfold to get us closer to our dream of everyone in the world having access to clean water and sanitation services.

A bit about the role

As the Financial Operations Director at Who Gives A Crap, you'll be at the helm of our financial and statutory reporting and control environment. Leading and developing our Financial Operations team, you'll be responsible for designing and ensuring the effectiveness of our financial accounting and financial controls environment, including financial and statutory reporting, treasury management, and compliance with laws and regulations across multiple regions.

Your role goes beyond just overseeing the numbers; it’s about leading with a human-first approach, guiding your team through necessary change and complex financial operations while fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration. You’ll have the opportunity to shape financial strategies that align with our broader mission, ensuring we continue to make a positive impact in the world while maintaining financial health.

If you worked here this past month here are some things you might have been involved in

  • Leading the charge on improving financial processes (including month-end close) and systems like NetSuite.
  • Looking out for ways to simplify processes, boost efficiency, and get your team involved in solving pain points and implementing solutions quickly.
  • Collaborating with Senior Accountants, providing guidance to help them plan and close the gap between “as is” and “to be.”
  • Documenting and driving meaningful improvements in financial accounting, focusing on both process and delivery timelines.
  • Taking charge of the month-end close, ensuring accurate, timely reporting across multiple countries and currencies, while supporting and motivating your team to perform at their best.
  • Overseeing cash flow management, ensuring smooth payments, collections, and reconciliations, and leading your team to manage risks and maintain financial stability.
  • Steering treasury strategy and hedging, ensuring monthly multi-currency cashflow forecasts are delivered on time to balance financial and donation goals with day-to-day operations.
  • Mentoring your team to boost performance, offering feedback and opportunities for growth while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Ensuring functional and technical training for the Financial Operations team to keep everyone sharp and efficient.
  • Working closely with teams across the business to align financial goals with WGAC’s mission, creating a shared sense of purpose and engagement across departments.
Let’s talk about you

You're an experienced financial leader with a strong background in managing Financial Accounting/Operations teams, especially in fast-paced, global businesses. You know great leadership is about more than just overseeing tasks—it's about empowering and inspiring your team to bring their best selves to work. Your leadership style is human-first, built on transparency, empathy, and collaboration. You create an environment where feedback is constructive, growth is encouraged, and everyone feels valued as part of a strong, cohesive team.

With a solid understanding of financial systems (preferably NetSuite) and a knack for process improvement, you're skilled at leading change to improve Financial Accounting/Operations processes, including the month-end close. You know how to streamline operations while aligning financial strategies with broader business goals. You have a strategic vision, thinking not just about today, but also planning for the next 2-3 years to ensure the team is set up for long-term success.

As a CA/CPA, you're adept at leading teams through change, nurturing talent, maintaining a growth mindset, and driving high performance. You're all about creating solutions that don't just meet business needs but also promote sustainable growth. You're passionate about fostering an inclusive culture, driving financial success, and leading with purpose.

You give a crap

Do you want your work to make the world a better place? Do you want to work with other people who feel the same way? What a coincidence — us too!

Why should you work with us?

First off, as a certified B Corp™, we work to make a difference every day while maintaining the highest standards of social and environmental impact. With our most recent score of 125.5 we’re in very good company with other exceptional B Corps around the world.

We also believe that helping to make the world a better place should be rewarded accordingly – that’s why we offer competitive, market informed salaries, meaningful support towards healthcare for our team around the world, generous paid leave, tailored learning and development opportunities, and free toilet paper (yes, you read that right).

Our engagement surveys (thanks Culture Amp!) tell us that our team is really proud (95%) to work for Who Gives A Crap and, well, we couldn’t be more proud of that.

Have you made it this far?

If you’re still reading, we think there’s a strong chance you might be our kind of person. Here’s the thing, though — research suggests that 60% of women and underrepresented folks might have already talked themselves out of applying. Even if you don’t check every box above, we want to encourage you to introduce yourself. We believe a diversity of perspectives and experiences makes a team stronger — and the stronger our team, the closer we are to delivering toilets and clean water for all.

We’d love to hear from you! Applications will be closing on Monday 17th March, so if you’re interested, be sure to apply before then.
