Job Title: Senior Product Analyst, Competitive Intelligence 

 

Location: Full Remote Considered

 

Job Description: 

This role is pivotal in providing competitive intelligence to game studios and other partners (finance, marketing, etc.) to help build, launch, and manage successful live service games, as well as providing critical support to the revenue and engagement forecasting process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in competitive analysis and revenue forecasting, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Manage multiple data sources to maintain and improve live service competitive intelligence (CI) database, including revenue, engagement, and retention data. 

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to player behavior, in-game metrics, and performance to provide actionable insights. 

  • Leverage strong perspective of market and competitive landscape to contribute to sales and live revenue forecasting assumptions and process. 

  • Deliver regular reports on the state of the market and industry trends, as well as deep dives and ad hoc analysis on important trends as needed. 

  • Perform breakdowns and analysis on noteworthy competitive titles, analyzing revenue and engagement as well as systems and other design elements. 

  • Define core KPIs and benchmarks for live service titles in partnership with product managers and studios. 

  • Ensure that live service product management team and studios have access to key market research and intelligence to inform product decisions and prioritization. 

  • Engage with game teams on product and commercial strategy, content roadmaps, and design features by providing perspective on best-in-class approaches in the industry. 

  • Identify product growth opportunities based on market research, influence key stakeholders, and drive initiatives to a successful outcome through strong relationships. 

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to various stakeholders and studios, providing clear and actionable insights. 

 

Qualifications & Skills: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., business, data science, computer science) or equivalent experience. MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred. 

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with at least some of that time in the video game industry. 

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages, such as Excel, SQL, Python and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). 

  • Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of the gaming market, trends, and player preferences.  

  • Knowledge of monetization strategies and virtual economies in gaming. 

  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations. 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. 

  • Strong analytical and data-informed decision-making skills. 

  • Problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to challenges.
