Job description

The Benefits Manager will lead our benefits administration and plan design initiatives within the United States. This role will be instrumental in developing and managing the company’s benefits programs, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and enhancing employee engagement through effective benefits offerings. The Benefits Manager will work closely with the HR team and senior leadership to align our benefits strategy with overall organizational goals.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, implement, and manage employee benefits programs including health and welfare, pension and 401k plans.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding employee benefits.
  • Perform regular audits and assessments on benefit plans and recommend improvements.
  • Manage relationships with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and other vendors including an insurance broker.
  • Conduct benefit orientations and workshops to educate employees about their options.

·        Provide customer service support to internal and external customers including carriers and third party administrators.

  • Preparation of 5500 audit documents and filings (requires the necessary government credentials)
  • Must possess a comprehensive understanding of the pension and plan termination processes, including the transfer of payment obligations to third parties. (300 participants in the pension program)
  • Lead our Retirement Plan Committee by convening quarterly meetings with advisors. Serve as the definitive plan administrator for pension, 401(k), and insurance plans.
  • Conducting contract negotiations for insurance in collaboration with a broker,
  • Maintaining a strong relationship with an exceptional broker for Open Enrollment, which commences in July for the November Open Enrollment period.
  • System Maintenance (PlanSource, UKG/Kronos, Samba, EverythingBenefits- 401k automation)
  • Cross functional collaboration with (Payroll and HR Operations)
  • Responsible for overseeing the operations of a Benefits Specialist.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing employee benefits programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulations (ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, vlookup, and formulas.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with HRIS for benefits administration (Kronos and PlanSource)
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or similar preferred.
  • Compensation is based on experience; $105,000+ and bonus potential
