Job description

Position Overview:
The Accounting Lead is responsible for managing and executing the company’s core accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and compliance with regulatory standards. This role includes overseeing month-end close processes, maintaining the general ledger, monitoring accounts payable and receivable, and preparing detailed financial reports and analyses.

The Accounting Lead will play a vital role in streamlining financial operations, supporting tax compliance, and providing actionable insights to leadership. The ideal candidate will have expertise in accounting principles, strong attention to detail, and experience leveraging financial systems like NetSuite to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage Month-End Close and Financial Reporting
  • Oversee and execute the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, providing management with clear and actionable insights.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations to ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
  • Analyze P&L account variations and expense fluctuations month-over-month to identify trends and provide recommendations.
  • Maintain the General Ledger 
    • Accurately record all day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
    • Ensure transactions are recorded correctly and maintain the general ledger according to GAAP standards.
  • Ensure Tax Compliance
    • Oversee compliance with tax regulations and assist with tax preparation.
    • Collaborate with external tax consultants and auditors as needed.
  • Manage Intercompany Transactions
    • Oversee intercompany recharges, ensuring proper allocation and documentation of costs across entities.
    • Perform intercompany reconciliations to validate balances and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Develop and Enforce Internal Controls 
    • Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain data accuracy.
    • Conduct regular reconciliations and address discrepancies promptly.
    • Develop an open items follow-up process to track outstanding issues and ensure timely resolution.
    • Provide visibility to management regarding process inefficiencies or system issues, offering recommendations for improvements.
  • Support Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with other departments to align accounting processes with company objectives.
    • Provide insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Document and Maintain Financial Records
    • Maintain historical financial records by filing documents and assisting with administrative projects as needed.
    • Ensure proper documentation of processes for audit and compliance purposes.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in accounting roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
    • Proficiency in ERP and accounting systems, with NetSuite experience preferred..
    • Experience in leading month-end close processes.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
