What You’ll Do

As a Senior Staff Data Scientist, you will lead the development and deployment of advanced machine learning models and data-driven insights that power HG Insights’ products and internal initiatives. You will be responsible for designing scalable AI solutions, improving model performance, and ensuring scientific rigor in all data science activities. This role requires deep expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and experimentation, along with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to drive innovation and impact.

 

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Machine Learning & AI Development

  • Design, build, and deploy machine learning models, including supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, NLP models, embeddings, and generative AI applications.
  • Develop scalable ML pipelines and integrate them into production systems.
  • Continuously refine model performance through experimentation, validation, and optimization.

Scientific Rigor & Experimentation

  • Lead the development of experimentation frameworks, model evaluation strategies, and hypothesis testing methodologies.
  • Conduct rigorous A/B testing and statistical analysis to validate model effectiveness.
  • Stay ahead of advancements in AI/ML research and drive innovation through new methodologies and best practices.

Data Engineering & Feature Engineering

  • Partner with Data Engineering to ensure high-quality data pipelines and feature stores for ML applications.
  • Conduct feature selection, engineering, and transformation to maximize model performance.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across all AI-driven initiatives.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Impact

  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to translate business challenges into data science solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior data scientists and analysts.
  • Develop and document best practices for model development, reproducibility, and deployment.

 

What You’ll Need

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in applied data science, machine learning, or AI-driven product development.
  • Expertise in Python, SQL, and ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Experience with MLOps frameworks for productionizing models (e.g., MLflow, SageMaker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of deep learning, NLP, embeddings, transformers, and generative AI.
  • Experience working with big data technologies (Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar).
  • Proven ability to build scalable ML pipelines and deploy models in production environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to break down complex problems into data-driven solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data science concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
