The Statutory / Financial accountant will partner with the Director of Accounting and Accounting Manager supporting the Versant line of business. The Statutory / Financial Accountant will assist in maintaining accounting records and ensuring compliance with GAAP, tax, legal, actuarial, and regulatory standards. The position will be responsible for timely preparation of accurate, complete, and reliable financial statements. Additional responsibilities include calculating IBNR analyses, preparation of GAAP to STAT analyses, review annual RBC calculations and filings and assist with insurance filings with the states.

Success in this role requires the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • Advanced excel skill a plus.
  • Strong analytical and organization skills.


Preferred

  • 3-5 of years of experience in large company environment or public accounting
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Ability to participate and contribute in interactive meetings
