Job Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for the verification of product characteristics and associated manufacturing documentation and other quality records, utilizing a range of inspection techniques and methods including, but not limited to visual, mechanical, automated, contact and non-contact.
Job Responsibilities
Exemplify a safety-first mind-set and ensuring that the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards are followed
Responsible for performing Receiving, In-processes and Final Inspections as described by the product work instructions and/or other directions
Responsible for performing first article inspections in line with site operating policies, procedures and work instructions
Conduct first piece inspection and recommend process adjustments to ensure part and process conformance
Read and interpret laboratory reports for conformity and record results
Monitor oven parameters and adjust as necessary
Collect and create required documentation for shipments
Perform routine survey on Heat Treat ovens and record data in applicable systems
Responsible for execution customer and regulatory delegated inspection processes as authorized by those parties
Support root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances
Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
Support continuous improvement of production and inspection processes by implementing Lean initiatives
Job Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
1 year using hand tools – micrometers, gages, and calipers
1 year quality experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
1 year experience in inspection methods and techniques and following relevant work instructions
1 year experience working with LEAN processes and practices
Preferred Qualifications
AS130001 Certification
Experience in an Aerospace operating environment
Apprenticeship, Associate’s Degree in a technical subject or equivalent
Awareness of AS9100 series requirements
Previous delegated product acceptance authority granted by an Aerospace OEM or regulatory authority
Familiarity with 3D model-based Engineering
