Scopely is looking for a Director, Cloud FinOps to join our Technology Operations team in Canada on a remote basis.

What You Will Do 
Scopely is a leading mobile gaming publisher and developer dedicated to delivering engaging and innovative experiences to millions of players around the globe. With workloads across all three major public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud) we recognize the critical importance of efficient cloud operations and in turn, are looking to enhance our FinOps organization. We are seeking a Director, Cloud FinOps to lead Scopely’s efforts in driving cost efficiency, define the FinOps roadmap, and elevate the cost visibility, accuracy, and allocation for game teams.
As the Director, Cloud FinOps, you will play a pivotal leadership role in defining and executing the organization’s FinOps strategy. You will own the cloud cost management roadmap, ensuring cloud investments deliver maximum value while fostering a culture of accountability and financial discipline across teams. By staying updated with industry best practices and innovations, you will guide the organization through the fast-changing approaches to cloud financial optimization.
This role is highly collaborative, requiring close partnership with engineering, finance, legal, and central/game teams. In addition, this role will regularly engage with senior leadership to align cloud financial goals with overall business objectives.
  • Strategic Leadership & Roadmap Development
    • Define and execute Scopely’s FinOps roadmap across our multi-cloud environments
    • Drive alignment between cloud financial goals and business objectives through strategic planning, forecasting and budgeting, and stakeholder collaboration
    • Stay ahead of industry best practices, innovations, and emerging vendors
  • Optimization & Cost Efficiency
    • Lead efforts to identify and implement cost optimization strategies, including usage of Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Committed Use Discounts
    • Optimize Scopely’s cloud infrastructure through instance and service rightsizing
    • Partner with game teams to ensure efficient cloud resource utilization and cost-effective architecture design
  • Data-Driven Insights & Reporting
    • Develop cloud cost allocation methods for better accuracy, faster reporting, and more visibility across Scopely’s central and developer ecosystem
    • Increase cloud cost, usage reporting and alerting to provide real-time, game-specific visibility into cloud spending
    • Deliver regular financial reports, forecasts, and variance analysis to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with game and central teams to discover, plan, and take action on cloud optimization opportunities
    • Collaborate with finance, central, and game teams to establish a culture of financial accountability and cost awareness
    • Drive training and evangelization of FinOps principles across the organization
  • Vendor Management
    • Build and maintain strategic relationships with major cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud)
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings including private pricing, vendor consolidation and migration, and optimized contract commercials
What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in cloud operations, cloud cost optimization, or related fields
  • 5+ years in a leadership role, managing multi-cloud environments and influencing organizational strategy
  • Proven track record of driving successful FinOps initiatives in a fast-paced, cloud-native organization
  • Expertise in FinOps frameworks, tools, and methodologies
  • Deep knowledge of AWS, with a strong understanding of Azure and Google Cloud platforms
  • Exceptional analytical and data visualization skills, using tools such as BigQuery and Looker
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of influencing both technical and non-technical stakeholders across diverse teams and timezones
