Trauma Registrar is responsible for managing and maintaining a trauma registry database, collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to patients who have suffered traumatic injuries.

Duties Include:
Collection/abstraction of 300+ data points and entry into the NTRACS Trauma Registry database on all trauma patients admitted to VUMC and MCJCH as a Level I Trauma Center.
Data Management- data integrity, reports, and data presentation
Anatomy and Conditions of Injury
Coding and Scoring Concepts
Registry- NTDB, State(s), and internal registry
Communicates with department staff including physicians, managers, nursing staff, process improvements, and research coordinators. Participates in validating 5-10% of Registry data entry, tracks inconsistencies, and educates co-workers as needed.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments by participating in:
Taking monthly TQIP quizzes and reports
TQIP Open Forum webinars.
Participates in registry-specific coursework and continuing education courses per year, and meetings and activities.
Data Entry and Reporting
Abstracts data and performs data entry by determining the appropriateness of patient entry, within timelines of quality measures (=/>95) and discharge requirements.
Codes diagnose and hospital procedures ICD10 and enter into the Trauma Registry
Submits trauma data to the registry, databank, and various Level 1 Trauma centers.
