The Finance Team’s key responsibilities are to ensure timely submission and lodgement of compliance documents, ensure the day to day bookkeeping tasks are completed, and financial reporting is provided to the key stakeholders within the business. The Finance Manager is also charged with ad hoc business analysis and business partnering when required.

What’s the role all about?
This role will take ownership of the finance function as a whole, including oversight of the day to day finance operations, leadership and mentoring of the finance team, as well as business partnering with the various teams when required

Your main focus areas will be:

• Oversight of the operational finance function, including but not limited to:
  • Accounts Payable
  • Financial Controls
  • Accounting File Maintenance
  • Month End closure and reporting
  • Payroll
• Assisted Compliance:
  • Liaising with External Accountants to lodge ITR with ATO in Aus and IRS / California State Gov in US.
  • Liaising with External Auditors to submit our yearly financial statements to ASIC
  • Liaising with External Accountants to lodge FBT return
  • Liaising with external consultants to submit yearly R&D Tax Offset claim.
• SD Led compliance
  • Monthly BAS & IAS
  • Quarterly Sales Tax lodgement/s in US
  • Monthly Payroll tax
• Support Sleeping Duck in key decision making relating to, but not limited to:
  • Commercial & Investment Analysis
  • Project Modelling
  • Business Cost Oversight
• Oversee Financial Controls
• Fraud Detection Oversight
• Be the key contact for the business on pricing / margins of the various products.
• Ad Hoc analysis when required from key stakeholders across the business.

This role requires 2-3 days per week working from our SDHQ in Prahran, with flexibility to work from home the remainder of the week.

Ideal candidate

• An undergraduate / post graduate degree in accounting, finance or commerce
• Hold a CA, CPA or equivalent
• 6 years experience in Finance Related roles.
• Broad knowledge of the various Australian tax/compliance requirements
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skill
  • Comfortable working with large data sets
• Xero Experience
• Confidence performing complex reconciliations
• Background in Audit / Public Practice / Consulting
• Ability/confidence to liaise with various key stakeholders across the business
• Proficient in GSuite (preferred)
• Ability to take ownership of the role, and an interest to learn and grow
• A tech-savvy person
• Ability to adapt in a fast moving environment
• A self starter - take the initiative and be comfortable in an autonomous environment
