The Lead Structural Designer is responsible for working under the supervision of Senior Engineers and Designers to develop structural engineering solutions to the design of buildings and other load-bearing structures.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
- Works closely with design and technical teams including other disciplines in supporting the development of design deliverables such as Construction Documents, including drawings and specifications
- Guides and oversees the team to achieve the correct technical solutions to difficult design and client problems
- Performs duties of Autodesk Building Systems Software
- Reviews structural drawings for completeness, constructability and coordination
- Maintains primary accountability for all structural designs, sharing engineering responsibility
- Mentors Interns and junior members of project teams
- Participates in the development of office standards and procedures
- Other duties as assigned

- Education: Associate’s degree required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 6+ years of experience
- Understands construction drawings/plans and can visualize structural elements in three dimensions
- Proficient with Autodesk Building Systems Software
- Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
- Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in meetings and reports along with respect, tact and diplomacy
- Understands industry, drafting and design standards associated with detailing and construction document development
- Knowledgeable and productive with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
- Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
- Exhibit characteristics of an emerging or developed leader
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in an office environment and preferably has experience working on a construction site preferred
- Experience working remotely and virtually preferred
- Experience with structural Finite-Element analysis software such as RAM, STAAD, SAP, ETABS preferred
- Experience with Design-Build a plus
