The Senior Category Manager, Collectibles will define and drive the strategy for eBay’s Coins, Comics, and Toys categories, ensuring these verticals continue to grow and strengthen eBay's position as the top destination for buyers and sellers worldwide. You will be at the forefront of evolving the buyer and seller journey, improving the customer experience, and driving long-term growth for the Collectibles segment. By working closely with internal and external partners, you will be the central hub connecting multiple initiatives that bring eBay’s collectibles experience to life for millions of global buyers.
In this role, you will lead the evolution of the buyer and seller journey across eBay’s Coins, Comics, and Toys categories. By deeply understanding the needs, challenges, and behaviors of our diverse customer base, you will identify strategic gaps and define priorities to improve performance throughout the entire experience. Your work will involve both immediate optimizations and forward-looking initiatives to keep eBay ahead of industry trends.
This role requires someone who takes a comprehensive view to problem solving, thinks strategically, and can imagine how the future will craft up and how to best guide eBay to be prepared for these changes. Further, the Collectibles category is constantly evolving and having a strong personal connection to any collectible category will be helpful.
What you will accomplish:
Strategy Development & Execution. Develop and implement near-term & long-term strategies for growth within the core collectibles categories, ensuring alignment with company goals and financial targets.
Category Performance Analysis and Reporting: Lead weekly business reviews and analyze category performance for key partners on a recurring basis. Identify trends, opportunities, and risks to drive data-backed decisions that optimize category growth and profitability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams across Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations, and Business Development to align on priorities and execute strategies.
Account Management/ Partnership: Coordinate book of business with strategic sellers in partnership with your team of category managers. Identify and manage key partnerships across the Collectibles landscape, including existing commercial partnership with Funko.
Tradeshow and Events: Lead the planning and execution of in-person tradeshows and virtual event activations, aligning with business unit (BU) initiatives and KPIs.
Site Merchandising: Collaborate with site merchandising & marketing teams to define a 52-week calendar outlining key retail moments, and seasonal events where eBay should show up on the homepage and category pages; partnering with the merchandising team to develop events that generate relevancy, visibility, and GMV growth.
Assortment and Sourcing Strategy: Collaborate with Business Development to identify and source the best sellers and products to expand the assortment within each collectible category. Ensure that product selection aligns with customer demand & trends.
Learning Agenda: Partner with analytics, consumer and competitive insights teams to build a learning agenda to help identify data-backed insights to support initiatives & actions in the categories.
Pricing and Contract Management: Develop and implement pricing strategies working with Monetization, Finance, and Legal teams to improve profitability while remaining competitive in the marketplace.
Budget Management and Forecasting: Partner with Finance to guide the budgeting and forecasting process for the collectible categories; continuously tracking and adjusting forecasts to meet changing market conditions and business goals.
What you will bring:
Seven to nine + years of related experience in ecommerce, retail, or similar online business
BA/BS or equivalent experience required, MBA or similar graduate degree preferred
7 or more years of experience coordinating cross functional teams such as Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service, and Analytics
7 or more years of presentation experience and the demonstrated ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and convincingly
Experience pulling data and gathering insights on online marketplaces
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines across cross-functional teams
Experience influencing & negotiating with external partners
Strong discernment, experience running an ecommerce business
This would include P&L/KPI management including driving GMV, CSAT (Buyer/Seller) and the experience on core inputs/drivers vital to run a successful business
Experience as a seller or buyer on eBay preferred
The new employee will ideally be near one of eBay's corporate locations, but full remote is an option for an outstanding candidate
