We are looking for a Senior Test Strategist / Automation Engineer to take ownership of test strategy, automation efficiency, and quality assurance across software ecosystem. This role requires deep technical expertise in BDD test automation (Java) alongside the ability to optimize existing test suite and drive best practices in test automation and strategy. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance test coverage, improve execution speed, and ensure our testing aligns with real user behavior.

Expected travelling time (UK and USA): 0%-15%, varies according to project/client. You will be working with teams across different time zones and locations.

Requirements

Key Requirements:

Technical Expertise in BDD & Test Automation

Strong experience writing BDD tests in Java
Ability to review, refactor, and improve an existing large test base for efficiency and effectiveness.
Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks playwright
Comfortable working with API testing tools (e.g. Postman, Rest Assured) and performance testing tools (e.g. JMeter).

Test Strategy & Process Improvement

Experience defining and implementing test strategies for large-scale systems.
Ability to assess test coverage gaps, improve automation efficiency, and recommend changes based on real user behaviour.
Knowledge of best practices in test automation, CI/CD, and test-driven development (TDD).

Stakeholder Management & Test Evangelism

Strong ability to communicate test quality, risk, and strategy to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to product owners, engineering leads, and leadership teams.
Experience working in an agile environment with cross-functional teams.

Problem-Solving & Performance Optimisation

Proven ability to diagnose test bottlenecks, speed up test execution, and improve test reliability.
Strong analytical skills to prioritise test cases based on business impact.

Nice to Have:

Experience with microservices testing and event-driven architectures.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with AI-driven testing tools or performance engineering.
