Job Profile Summary

The purpose of this Senior Director role is to lead the development and implementation of APS (Altium Performance System) across Altium.  APS is a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) based continuous improvement program.  The Senior Director of APS’s role is to provide subject matter expertise to deploy the APS strategy and approach across the Altium organization and drive the cultural transformation throughout the business.  This role is part of the Business and Operational Transformation Organization and member of the APS team. This is a critical role in ensuring the effective implementation and sustainability of the APS culture across the enterprise, which will have primary responsibility for educating leadership, plant personnel, and coaching APS team members to lead the APS journey for our internal customers.

Job Description   

Regularly interact with and provide coaching to all levels of the business from VP’s to production floor associates in leading and encouraging CI initiatives to drive improvements in safety, quality, customer service, and cost to make. 

•    Able to work in a principle-based organization that leverages the Altium Guiding Principles and Altium Performance System to create significant value based on eliminating losses.

•    Manage and lead training on APS (TPM) tools and methodologies. Coach, mentor, and train operational associates and staff to apply, support, sustain, and develop a Continuous Improvement culture.

•    Facilitate and lead Continuous Improvement events as a subject matter expert while empowering operational staff and associates to present ideas while empowering individuals to implement solutions.

•    Work in partnership with the nine Element (Pillar) leaders on the identification and execution of the strategic master plan and oversee tactical project completion.  Lead the Element Council to maintain alignment across the Elements and Phases.

  • Lead the Leadership Element that includes APS tools Tiered Management, 5S, Leader Standard Work, Run To Target, etc.

•    Accountable for APS projects and Element coordination, including the development and execution of continuous improvement deployment plans.

•    Provide functional leadership for APS Managers, manage risks, issues, and remove barriers to ensure successful execution. 

•    Coaches and develops a diverse team of APS Senior Managers and Directors to deploy and provide subject matter expertise in the development of CI capabilities across Altium locations.   Cascade this coaching and development deeper into the organization with the site-based APS Practitioners.

•    Partner with key stakeholders to develop Element focused capability activities and drive the application of these capabilities into the Altium business.                                                                    

•    Lead with humility to build a strong team culture and support team members to seek fulfillment in their roles.

  • Able to develop and implement processes to help plant leadership teams deliver Safety, Quality, OEE, Cost to Make, and Customer Service metrics.
  • Able to develop and deliver presentations to senior leadership to drive organizational strategy and results.

Additional Job Descriptions: Minimum Requirements

•     Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations, Supply Chain or related discipline preferred.

•     10 + years leading a TPM based continuous improvement manufacturing organization managing elements (pillars), multiple element integration, systems, and processes.  Can develop TPM material and then train, coach, and develop teams to execute.

•    Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively assess situations and make appropriate decisions in a timely manner.

•    Superior written and verbal communication skills.

•    Analytical mindset and ability to understand and organize data.

•    Strong problem-solving skills.

•    High travel (50-75%) supporting CI Managers, Element Owners, and manufacturing facilities.
