School Staffing Support are seeking to establish a pool of School Staffing Consultants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2025 and up to the end of February 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The Staff Recruitment and Employment Services Directorate manages the Department’s human resource functions, including those who operate in central office as well as those in schools across the State. Positions encompass professional staff and a wide range of support staff within the Department.
Our team of Consultants are focussed on people – engaging with them to achieve positive outcomes and working with them to build capability and knowledge in human resource practices. Our schools manage their own budgets, and we support them to achieve this, by fostering workforce management strategies. The role is solution focussed, working in partnership with school leaders, line managers and employees.
Our day-to-day operations support the delivery of comprehensive and responsive workforce consultancy to school leaders in relation to appropriate application of human resource practices, school salary management and complex redeployment matters. Each member of our team has a designated portfolio of schools they support, acting as an essential contact for school leaders seeking operational advice to meet their current and future workforce needs.
The Role
The School Staffing Support Branch, in collaboration with central and regional services stakeholders, supports schools to manage their workforce and maximise the use of the salary component of their one-line budget. This includes providing advice on existing staff profiles and how they can be used across the school and creating new positions when necessary. The team also provides case management to school-based and central and regional services employees requiring placement. Each school has a dedicated staffing consultant, so the Branch is often the first point of contact for schools seeking assistance with services provided across the Workforce Division.
We also provide high level case management to employees, working with them on their redeployment journey, and advocating on their behalf to achieve successful outcomes. In this role you will need to apply experience and knowledge of public sector legislation, industrial instruments and policies to support a variety of school-based employees.
Suitable applicants will be expected to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships and effective communication networks with internal and external clients and stakeholders. In addition, this role will include developing and delivering professional learning and coaching to support the application of salaries, staffing and redeployment management policies and strategies, procedures, priorities, systems and practices.
It is strongly advised that applicants familiarise themselves with the Public Sector Capability Profiles and ensure that their application is written to Level 6 Capability Profile.
