The Denver Department of Safety is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to engage in daily department accounting functions to support business operations.
The Staff Accountant performs entry level professional governmental accounting work applying generally accepted accounting principles to prepare, record, and review financial information while receiving training in fiscal laws, rules, regulations, and procedures.
The annual salary for this position is between $58,656 – $61,000 pending education and experience.
This position will be located at the Denver Police Administration Building in Downtown Denver with a scheduled work shift to begin at 8:00am. Hours will be flexible and some work from home options after completing training.
Job responsibilities include:
Be the primary point of contact for all Accounts Payable functions within the Denver Department of Safety to include employee travel reimbursement requests. Process, record, and ensures invoices and employee travel and expense reimbursements are paid correctly and timely, while maintaining relationships with internal employees and external vendors
Responsible for maintaining a city issued P-Card and reconciling transactions on a monthly basis
Tracks, records, and reconciles financial transactions to ensure consistency and compliance with fiscal rules, and creates reports for historical records, audits, and the evaluation of financial processes and transactions
Tracks, monitors, projects expenditures, allocates funds, oversees assets, and prepares justifications and reports with regard to a specific organizational budget and associated business needs
Researches, analyzes, calculates, and compiles financial data, prepares reports for business decision making, and assists in determining best use of financial resources
