Snapshot of the Role:

We are seeking a Strategic Finance Manager/Senior Manager to partner with our leadership team and drive growth and expansion at MasterClass. Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Finance, you will help shape our growth strategy, manage forecasting and budgeting, and provide critical decision support across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in investment banking, consulting, consumer startups, or enterprise SaaS, combining strategic vision, analytical expertise, and proven leadership skills to drive our future success. If you are hungry, curious, a problem solver, a great communicator, and resilient—and passionate about changing the future of education—we invite you to join us in reinventing the future!

What we are looking for:

  • Revenue Forecasting & Planning:  Refine our revenue forecast model—including new customer acquisition, retention, churn, and expansion revenue—to drive strategic decisions and fuel business growth.
  • Subscription Analytics: Develop deep insights from key SaaS metrics (ARR, LTV, CAC, churn, ARPU, net retention) to shape long-range strategies and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Scenario Planning & Sensitivity Analysis: Build dynamic financial models to assess the impact of pricing changes, promotions, customer segmentation, and expansion initiatives, ensuring our strategies remain agile and forward-thinking.
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Data teams to align financial plans with broader business strategies, optimizing revenue outcomes and driving cross-functional success.
  • Financial Reporting: Deliver clear, actionable insights on revenue trends, variances, and risks, ensuring transparency and alignment with our overall company objectives.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Leverage comprehensive financial and operational data to generate recommendations that enhance customer acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Revenue Recognition & Compliance: Partner with Accounting to ensure revenue recognition meets ASC 606 and GAAP standards, maintaining rigorous financial integrity.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously enhance forecasting methodologies, boost reporting accuracy, and spearhead automation in revenue analytics, driving ongoing innovation and efficiency.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Enhanced Forecasting Accuracy: Achieve significantly improved revenue forecasting accuracy and predictability, empowering proactive strategic planning.
  • Insightful Leadership Reporting: Deliver compelling, data-driven insights on revenue trends and key business drivers that fuel decisive, impactful leadership decisions.
  • Actionable Growth Strategies: Implement powerful, actionable recommendations that drive robust revenue growth and maximize customer monetization.
  • Unified Cross-Functional Alignment: Forge strong, synergistic partnerships across teams to ensure complete alignment on ambitious revenue goals.
  • Real-Time Reporting Excellence: Streamline reporting processes to provide real-time, high-impact insights into business performance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience: 5+ years in FP&A, Revenue Finance, or related roles, OR 2-3 years in investment banking/consulting followed by a couple of years in FP&A.
  • SaaS Expertise: Bring a deep understanding of SaaS financial metrics and business drivers, honed in dynamic consumer startup and complex enterprise environments.
  • Excel Modeling: Exceptional Excel modeling skills, with a proven ability to build robust financial models. You’re passionate about solving complex problems and turning data into compelling stories.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in all financial analyses and reporting, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Financial Planning Tools: Familiarity with financial planning tools (e.g., Aleph, Adaptive, Anaplan) is a plus.
  • Data & AI Skills: Bonus points for experience with data platforms like Looker, proficiency in Python, and leveraging AI to unlock deeper insights and automate processes.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and spoken communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Adaptability & Curiosity: Thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments while effectively managing multiple priorities. Intellectually curious, driven by a can-do attitude, and always eager to learn and collaborate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Investment banking or consulting experience is highly preferred, demonstrating your ability to navigate complex financial landscapes and deliver strategic insights.
  • Proven experience in supporting Marketing and Growth teams by analyzing CAC:LTV ratios and optimizing customer acquisition strategies.
  • Exposure to product-led growth (PLG) models and SaaS pricing strategies, driving scalable revenue and market expansion.
  • An MBA, CFA, or CPA is a plus.

Why Join Us?

  • High-impact role with visibility to leadership and key decision-makers.
  • Opportunity to shape revenue strategy and influence business outcomes.
  • Dynamic and collaborative work environment in a growing SaaS company.
