Job Title: NOC Engineer
Location: Office/Remote/Hybrid
Department: Network Operations
Reports To: Network Manager

Job Summary:

The NOC Engineer is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting not only the organization's network infrastructure but customer managed network infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted operations and optimal performance. The role involves identifying and resolving network issues, performing routine maintenance, and collaborating with various teams to implement network improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Network Monitoring and Maintenance:
    • Monitor network performance and system alerts using NOC tools and dashboards.
    • Proactively identify and troubleshoot network issues to minimize downtime.
    • Perform routine system checks and maintenance to ensure network health.
  2. Incident Management:
    • Respond to and resolve network incidents according to defined SLAs.
    • Escalate complex issues to higher-level support as ISPs or vendors as needed.
    • Document incidents, root causes, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
  3. System Administration:
    • Manage and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
    • Perform firmware updates, patching, and configuration changes.
    • Ensure network security by implementing and monitoring appropriate measures.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with internal teams to address network-related needs and projects.
    • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on network performance and incidents.
    • Train and assist junior staff in network operations and troubleshooting.
  5. Continuous Improvement:
    • Analyze network trends and performance data to recommend improvements.
    • Stay updated on the latest technologies and best practices in network operations.
    • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in network operations or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PathSolutions).
  • Familiarity with networking hardware (Cisco, PaloAlto, Fortinet , etc.).
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and incident management practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
  • Good to have knowledge on basic cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Working Conditions:

  • 24/7 shift-based work environment (may require night and weekend shifts). 03:30 PM IST and 07:30  PM IST monthly rotational shift
  • On-call responsibilities for critical issues.
