Government Relations Communications Manager
Location: Home-Based, US (Eastern Seaboard preferred)
Position Summary:
As a Government Relations Communications Manager within the Government Relations department, you will be part of a dynamic, hard-working global team that engages with leaders and government officials to educate them on the importance of critical infrastructure (roads, bridges, railroads, water systems, power lines, and much more) and how technology can greatly assist the industry and governments in achieving their goals.
This position directly supports the US and EU Government Relations Senior Directors by (i) developing strategic communications campaigns to enhance Bentley's reputation toward policymakers around the world including in Washington DC, in different state and local US jurisdictions, and across the EU from Brussels to individual countries; and (ii) managing all internal communications from the Government Relations team, including regular articles, webinars, updates, and newsletters. You will coordinate Bentley participation at relevant public policy-focused events, serve as a first point of contact toward specialized media, and package many of our existing materials to elevate Bentley as a thought leader on digitalization of infrastructure (with a focus on transportation, energy, and water).
Your Day-to-Day:
- With guidance from the VP Government Relations and US/EU Government Relations Senior Directors, design, manage, and execute public policy-focused communication campaigns.
- Produce and manage government relations content and collateral. Content shall include presentations, one-pagers, and deeper substantive papers on how Bentley's technology is improving quality of life and making infrastructure more sustainable and resilient.
- Managing all internal communications from the Government Relations team, including through preparation and dissemination of articles, updates, webinars, and newsletters.
- Enable and coordinate Bentley participation at public policy-focused events, as well as manage relationships with specialized media (including journalists).
- Brief, prep, collaborate with and advise Bentley colleagues on public policy-focused strategic communications (e.g., PR & Media).
- Assist/coordinate on-site event activities for certain Government Relations focused conferences/seminars.
- Help coordinate activities with other Bentley groups such as Marketing, Sales, and Product to ensure a consistent and accurate message.
- This role requires travel up to 10%.
- This is a full-time role expected to work 40 hours per week, home-based in the US.
- Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements). The role requires communication with managers, peers, and other colleagues of the company in person (on occasion), and by utilizing Microsoft Teams chat, calling, and meeting functions.
What You Bring to The Team:
- 3-5 years of government relations or corporate communications experience.
- Self-starter with the ability to understand business needs, think strategically and develop creative and constructive proposals while working collaboratively across business functions.
- Capitol Hill/Executive agency experience (EPA, USDOT, DOE etc.) preferred.
- Should be able to execute in both regions (U.S. and Europe), with good knowledge of political dynamics.
- Track record of successfully delivering reputational outcomes through multi-pronged communications strategies (events, media, collateral, social media).
- Excellent writing skills, particularly when simplifying complex topics and ideas.
- Strong technology skills for helping create, edit, format papers, graphics, and presentations.
- Ability to work as part of a team, with a high degree of self-awareness, integrity, and accountability.
- Experience in a political or government office is valued but not required.
- Full professional proficiency in English language
