About This Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Virtualization Staff Engineer to lead the development and optimization of our virtualization infrastructure. In this critical leadership role, you will guide the architecture and implementation of virtualization solutions that seamlessly integrate with AI and HPC applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and efficiency. You will collaborate closely with other engineering teams, product management, and infrastructure to deliver innovative and impactful solutions.
What You’ll Be Working On:
Lead the design and implementation of virtualization technologies for AI and HPC workloads in cloud environments, ensuring high performance, scalability, and efficiency.
Make architectural decisions on virtualization layers, hardware-software integration (e.g., GPUs, TPUs), and network topologies to optimize for AI/HPC workloads.
Collaborate with product management, infrastructure, AI/ML, and hardware teams to align virtualization solutions with product roadmaps and infrastructure needs.
Engage with customer success and operations teams to ensure the end-to-end delivery of reliable and performant virtualization solutions in production.
Take full ownership of key technical initiatives, driving them from concept to production.
Lead, mentor, and guide a team of talented engineers, fostering their professional growth and technical expertise.
Provide constructive feedback through code reviews, design reviews, and one-on-one mentorship.
Champion a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role focusing on virtualization and cloud infrastructure.
3+ years of experience designing and optimizing virtualization architectures for GPUs, accelerators, and high-performance networks such as InfiniBand and RoCE.
Deep expertise in virtualization technologies (e.g., KVM, VMware, Xen, etc.) and cloud platforms.
Strong understanding of the trade-offs between cloud-native architectures, virtualization, and bare-metal performance.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Go, or Rust.
Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, driving technical decisions and influencing product roadmaps.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with CUDA or other GPU programming frameworks for optimizing performance and integrating with virtualization technologies.
Bonus Points:
Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with open-source virtualization projects.
Contributions to the open-source community.

Compensation Range:
Compensation will be paid in the range of $215,000 - $250,000. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
