iTech AG is looking for an MQ / Middleware Systems Engineer to provide key input and support in technical designs for various projects for our federal government customer.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Report to the MQ/Middleware Task Lead.
Provide 24x7x365 support via an on-call rotation for integration support across all Middleware components, including networking and supported application interfaces.
Support configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of ActiveMQ, Apache Kafka, and other middleware solutions.
Support and maintain ActiveMQ brokers, queue managers, and clustering configurations.
Assist in the automation of operations and maintenance functions using scripting and orchestration tools.
Perform patching, upgrades, and security hardening for ActiveMQ and related middleware components.
Support application teams in troubleshooting messaging-related issues, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and optimize performance.
Engage with ActiveMQ vendors and the open-source community for technical support as required.
Maintain task and project tracking in Jira and/or ServiceNow.
Provide on-call incident response and change request support following approved procedures, collaborating with the Enterprise Operations Center (EOC), application owners, and technical SMEs as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
5 to 10 years of experience in Messaging and Middleware technologies.
5+ years of hands-on experience in ActiveMQ, Apache Kafka, or other message queuing systems.
5+ years of experience in incident, problem, and change management support for 24x7 infrastructure operations.
5+ years of experience in 2nd/3rd line IT support or middleware project delivery.
5+ years of experience working with middleware technologies, Java-based messaging, or similar platforms.
2+ years of programming experience with languages such as Java, C, C++, or similar products.
1+ years of experience in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Korn Shell, Python, or PowerShell).
Strong knowledge of XML and JSON configuration and layout.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science (BS) can be substituted with an additional 4 years of related experience
SECURITY CLEARANCE
Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS MBI
