Weber LLC, Global Supply Chain

Internship Program

 

Summary:

The Supply Chain & Internship Program at Weber provides you with the opportunity to provide key impacts to Weber and grow your supply chain knowledge within key areas of our Supply Chain & Operations organization over a 12-week period. Participants will take on responsibility of a strategic project to be identified and developed with leadership. You will get a holistic view of the organization through participation in development opportunities including on-the-job immersive responsibilities, strategic projects and initiatives, site tours, mentoring, exposure to supply chain executives, and networking events.  The internship roles will be based in Weber’s Palatine, IL Headquarters.  Most roles employ a hybrid office/work-from-home schedule, with the option of our Downtown Chicago office for one of the office days. Program participants should anticipate having a project solution and readout for their project and have the potential opportunity for finding a role at Weber past their internship.

 

What will your primary responsibilities be?

Internship role options may include the following functional departments:

 

Supply and Production Planning:

  • The Supply Planning team ensures we have the correct inventory of raw materials, components, and sourced finished goods to ensure we are able to continue manufacturing products and fulfilling on-time delivery of orders placed by our customers. This team is also responsible for planning manufacturing production schedules with consideration to demand forecasts, capacity plans, and inventory turns.  In addition, this team regularly communicates with vendors who provide us with materials and finished goods to ensure expectations are clear and being met.

 

Strategic Sourcing:

  • The Global Strategic Sourcing team is responsible for sourcing all items purchased by Weber including raw materials, components, packaging material, finished goods, tooling, office equipment/supplies, and other vendor-provided services. Their efforts include supplier selection, contract negotiation, project management and cross-functional coordination, supplier relationship building, and management.

 

Operations Leadership:

  • This is where our grills and accessories are made and deployed for distribution to our customers. In this rotation, you will supervise direct line employees in one of our manufacturing or distribution center environments to ensure timely, efficient, and safe workload completion. 

 

Global Logistics:

  • Responsible for moving Weber products from into and out of our facilities globally. This includes a focus on our warehouse operations, customer logistics, and order fulfillment. Strategic thought goes into identifying modes of transporting materials and goods. Timely and in full product allocation to our customers is a crucial deliverable of this team.

Quality:

  • Primary objective of this team is ensuring we have industry-leading quality as viewed through the eyes of the customer. This is accomplished via a metrics and analytical-driven approach with a focus on product, supplier, and manufacturing quality.

 

Supply Chain Strategy and Cost Leadership:

  • The focus of this team is to inform manufacturing strategy decisions and lead manufacturing cost improvement initiatives.  This team selects and implements continuous improvement, QVE, and manufacturing efficiency projects that improve productivity while reducing costs to the bottom line.

Specific criteria we are seeking in candidates:

  • Currently enrolled in a Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Management, Logistics, planning, engineering, or related field
  • Currently a junior or sophomore at an accredited university
  • Strong leadership skills and a track record of achieving results
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and build relationships
  • Experience in SAP or other ERP systems is a plus
  • Experience with data visualization tools is a plus

Hourly Position Range: $30.00
