As a Small Commercial Underwriter, you will be responsible for working closely with assigned agents and wholesalers to profitably grow a book of small commercial business.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Building and Maintaining Relationships: Develop strong, collaborative relationships with agents and wholesalers to understand their needs and support their efforts in growing their business.
  • Sales and Marketing: Implement effective sales and marketing strategies to promote our Workers’ Compensation and BOP policies through various digital channels.
  • Underwriting and Risk Assessment: Evaluate and underwrite small commercial accounts to ensure profitable growth while adhering to company guidelines and standards.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze the performance of the book of business, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
  • Customer Support: Provide exceptional support to agents and wholesalers, addressing any inquiries or issues promptly and professionally.
  • Communication- Make impactful decisions with little oversight
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Experience underwriting small business accounts is strongly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Field of Study: Business, Liberal Arts or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 1 to 5 years of underwriting experience. 
  • Beginning coursework toward certification in area of expertise preferred; appropriate certifications could include Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty

This job is non-exempt in California and Washington.
