Role: Oracle Database Administrator.
Location: Remote

As a consultant within the DI team, you will work with our clients to define their digital strategy and execution roadmap, and design and implement differentiated digital solutions to help deliver measurable value.

Job Description:
Database Installation and Configuration:
·       Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database software.
·       Set up and manage Oracle instances, including creating and configuring database environments.
·       Manage and configure database backups and recovery operations.
Performance Tuning and Optimization:
·       Monitor and optimize the performance of the database systems.
·       Diagnose and resolve performance issues related to SQL queries, database indexing, or hardware.
·       Work on database optimization techniques using query optimization, indexing strategies, and parameter tuning.
·       Use Oracle's built-in tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), AWR (Automatic Workload Repository), ADDM (Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor), etc.
Backup and Recovery:
·       Implement and maintain data backup strategies and recovery plans.
·       Use RMAN (Recovery Manager) for backup automation and recovery processes.
·       Ensure business continuity with robust disaster recovery plans.
Security Management:
·       Ensure database security, including user access control, roles, and privilege management.
·       Implement encryption, auditing, and compliance monitoring to protect sensitive data.
·       Apply patches and security updates in a timely manner.
Database Migration and Upgrades:
·       Plan and execute database migrations (e.g., version upgrades, platform migrations).
·       Migrate data between different database environments using tools like Oracle Data Pump or custom scripts.
·       Ensure minimal downtime during migrations or upgrades.
Automation and Scripting (using Python):
·       Write Python scripts to automate routine DBA tasks such as backups, monitoring, and performance tuning.
·       Develop and maintain custom monitoring tools or alerts using Python and libraries like cx_Oracle, psycopg2, or SQLAlchemy for database interaction.
·       Automate repetitive tasks like user provisioning, database health checks, and data exports.
·       Integrate Python with Oracle tools for reporting or data analytics (e.g., using Python with Oracle BI tools).
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
·       Investigate and resolve database-related issues, including connectivity problems, corruption, and performance bottlenecks.
·       Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot application-related database issues (e.g., slow queries, deadlocks).
Database Clustering and High Availability:
 
·       Configure and maintain Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) for high availability and load balancing.
·       Implement Data Guard and Oracle GoldenGate for replication and disaster recovery.
Capacity Planning and Resource Management:
·       Monitor database storage and growth trends to ensure efficient resource allocation.
·       Perform regular capacity assessments and proactively scale database environments based on usage patterns.
Oracle Database Technologies:
·       Strong experience with Oracle Database versions (e.g., 11g, 12c, 19c).
·       Knowledge of Oracle tools like RMAN, Data Pump, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, and Oracle GoldenGate.
·       Familiarity with partitioning, clustering, and replication in Oracle environments.
Performance Tuning:
Understanding of Oracle's query optimizer and indexing.
Knowledge of AWR, ADDM, and other diagnostic tools to analyze and troubleshoot performance.
Backup and Recovery:
·       Expertise in Oracle RMAN and physical/logical backups.
·       Strong knowledge of database recovery and point-in-time recovery (PITR).

Python Scripting:
·       Proficiency in Python with experience in libraries like cx_Oracle, pandas, SQLAlchemy, or others for database interaction and automation.
·       Writing Python scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
·       Integration of Python with REST APIs for monitoring
