Job description

Our Mission and Opportunity
Early education is one of the greatest determinants of childhood outcomes, is a must for working families, and has a lasting social and economic impact. Brightwheel’s vision is to enable high quality early education for every child — by giving teachers meaningfully more time with students each day, engaging parents in the development of their kids, and supporting the small businesses that make up the backbone of the $175 billion early education market. Brightwheel is the most loved technology brand in early education globally, trusted by thousands of educators and millions of families.

Our Team
We are a fully remote team with employees across every time zone in the US. Our team is passionate, talented, and customer-focused. Our exceptional investor group includes Addition, Bessemer Venture Partners, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, GGV Capital, Lowercase Capital, Emerson Collective, and Mark Cuban.

We believe that everyone—from our employees to the students, teachers, and administrators we serve— should be given the opportunity to learn and thrive, whatever their background may be. We celebrate diversity in all forms because it allows our team and the communities we serve to reach their full potential and do their best work. From decision making, to how we operate, we ground ourselves in our Leadership Principles every day.

Brightwheel is seeking a strategic and proactive Employee Relations Business Partner to drive our high performance culture in a fair and consistent manner for all employees. This role will be a key partner to our HRBP team, providing expert guidance on employee relations issues, coaching managers, and helping to build scalable processes that align with our company culture. • Partner with HRBPs & people managers – Manage and support a team of HRBPs to uphold performance management standards and ensure alignment across the business.
  • Navigate workplace matters with empathy and effectiveness – Advise and support managers and team members through a wide variety of complex employee relations situations; remain balanced and objective to ensure that all voices and perspectives are heard.
  • Recognize & address trends – Track and analyze employee relations data to uncover patterns, identify root causes, and proactively recommend improvements that enhance the employee experience.
  • Support key initiatives & special projects – Contribute to company-wide programs that drive employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, and continuous process improvement.

  • Qualifications, Skills, & Abilities
  • Proven experience in an employee relations, HR generalist, or people business partner role in a fast-growth environment
  • Demonstrated experience resolving complex employee relations issues in a fair, consistent, and efficient way
  • Proven expertise in handling complex employee relations cases, including investigations, progressive discipline, performance management, and conflict resolution
  • Exceptional coaching and communication skills with the ability to guide managers through difficult conversations with clarity, confidence, and empathy
  • Strong pattern recognition—you can quickly spot trends, assess risk, and develop proactive solutions to address recurring employee relations challenges
  • Ability to balance fairness and business needs by approaching  every situation with sound judgment, discretion, and an unwavering commitment to integrity
  • Collaborative team player who can work effectively across functions, departments, and support multiple people business partners
  • Strong bias for action with ability to work with urgency, prioritize effectively, and remain resilient in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Commitment to fostering a workplace that is fair, inclusive, and supportive for all employees
