Summary of Job Duties:

The Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant will assist physician inpatient and outpatient with new and subsequent consults, new and follow up outpatient clinic visits, clinic procedures, medication pump refills, answer pages and round on UAMS and BHRI inpatients. The APRN/PA will be responsible for occasional weekend and leave coverage. APP must have a high level of expertise to perform assessments/diagnosis/treatment of actual/potential problems of patients.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in nursing - Acute Care or Masters Degree in Physician Assistant studies

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas; APRN License or Physician’s Assistant Certificate of Registration with the Arkansas Medical Board or be certification eligible, and be certified as a Physician’s Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

• Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines).

• Must have normal communication sensory requirements.

• Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Nursing experience in Rehabilitation

• 2 Years Experience

• Prescriptive authority and a DEA license must be obtained after hire.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

• Extend the patient care and administrative services at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.

• Provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses,

• implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments, and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician(s).

• Work autonomously, as well as, in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.

• Coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, and assuring that care is timely and appropriate.

• Other duties may be assigned to this position.
